Bailey Buren Loyd
Bailey Buren Loyd, age 76, of Silverton, passed away, Tuesday, November 14, 2023. A graveside service was held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 18, 2023, at the Silverton Cemetery, with Brian West officiating. Visitation was from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 18, 2023, in the parlor of the Moore-Rose Silverton Visitation Center.
Arrangements for Mr. Loyd are under the personal of Moore-Rose Funeral Home. Bailey was born on September 19, 1947 in Clovis, New Mexico. The Loyd family moved to Silverton in 1952, and Bailey resided there until his death except for the two years he served in the U.S. Army. One of those years, he served as a radio operator in Vietnam. He had worked for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a Corrections Officer. After his retirement from TDCJ, he enjoyed working in the yard and visiting with neighbors. He was a rockhound, and enjoyed making jewelry from stones he had cut and polished.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Truman H. and Irene Loyd; his sister and brother-in-law, Melba and Jack Williamson; a brother, Truman Earl Loyd; and a brother-in-law, Billy Cooper.
Bailey is survived by his sister, Anita Cooper; a nephew, three nieces; two great-nieces; and five great-nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Silverton EMS Services.
