Body

Charlotte Nellie (Owens) McCauley died unexpectedly but peacefully at LCJC/Midway Church. Charlotte was born on October 28, 1953 in Spur, Texas, to Melvin Sr. and Ethel Jo Owens. She was a part of the 1972 Spur High School class and later graduated from Draughon’s Business School in 1976.

She married Chris McCauley (cowboy) in 1979 and they had six children. She spent the majority of her life being a great wife and mother to her children. Charlotte loved to play games and was always ready to play anything and so very competitive, as most can attest to. Let’s just say you were always glad to be her partner. She strived to make it to every kid event imaginable and celebrated every milestone. Charlotte was loved by everyone who met her. Her husband says, “She was not perfect, but dang near it.” Her children and grandchildren adored her and never had to wonder if she loved them. Charlotte has been with Chris in the ministry for over 40 years and for the last 32 years they have pastored LCJC/Midway Church, where they have ministered to multitudes of people—many being youth or children, Charlotte definitely has a legacy of love and instilling the love and word of Christ into many. There is nothing other than the love of Christ that can help fill the void that Charlotte will be leaving behind. But her family knows that she is worshipping at the throne of Jesus right now with loved ones who have gone on before her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin Sr. and Ethel Jo Owens; her brothers. Billy Jo and Melvin Owens Jr.; her oldest son, Craig McCauley; and her youngest great-grandson, Tate Donnell.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Chris McCauley, and four sons: Calvin McCauley and wife, Daphne, of Spur, Texas, Don McCauley and wife, Traci, of Seymour, Texas, Aubrey McCauley and wife, Mary, of Greenbrier, Tenn., Clell McCauley and wife, Amy, of Guthrie, Texas; one daughter; Sharonda Donnell and husband, Brad, of Seymour, Texas; a younger brother, Jimmy Owens, and wife, MaryAnne, of North Richland Hills, Texas; and her sister Mary Charo and husband, Rick, of Vernon, Texas.

She is survived by 15 grandkids: Chance McCauley and wife, Jill, Chazeley Kinnibrugh and husband, Tyler, Brittany Morgan and husband, Jonathan, Cheyenne Major and husband, Sandor, Scott McCauley and wife, Meghan, Kaylee Greene and husband, Kevin, Bradyn Donnell and wife, Audrey, Krissi McCauley, Kristen McCauley, Ciara Grable and husband, Josh, Kolby Donnell, Jaycee Mc-Cauley, and Morgan McCauley; 23 great-grandkids; and numerous nephews and nieces. She leaves behind a great legacy of faith and love.

Funeral services were held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Midway Church in Guthrie, Texas, followed by interment at Crosbyton Cemetery under the direction of Zapata Funeral Home.
