Dinah Kerr Elliott Young, 71, of Roaring Springs, TX was carried on angels’ wings to heaven on November 4, 2016. Dinah’s passing was our loss and heaven’s gain. Dinah was born November 19, 1944 to Jimmie Wright Kerr and Bertha Helen Kerr, and raised in Lubbock. She attended Colorado Women’s College. She was a massage therapist and took great joy in helping people with her healing touch. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ken Young. Loved by everyone who knew her, Dinah will be missed by her friends, family, pets, and communities.
She lived life to the fullest, adventuring from Lubbock to California to New York to Cape Breton, Canada and finally to the orchard, a pecan grove in Roaring Springs that she and Ken turned into an oasis full of art, music, gardens, and love. She loved hiking at Caprock, swimming in the Springs, and having huge family gatherings with good food, jumping on the trampoline, and singing around the bonfire.
Dinah was a strong Christian who prayed daily. She and her friends at the Caprock Cowboy Church, where she attended, were known as “the prayer warrior women.” Dinah loved her family dearly, and this extended beyond her birth family to all who knew her.
Mourning Dinah and left to cherish her memory are her four children, Ginny Elliott LaDue, Sinikka Elliott, Aubrey Elliott, and Joshua Elliott, and her seven grandchildren. Also, her sisters, Karen Wienke, Jan Kerr, and Gingah Milnes and their children and grandchildren.
A memorial service in Dinah’s honor will be held at Caprock Cowboy Church on 3rd and Broadway in Roaring Springs on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Caprock Cowboy Church or the Motley County Library.
