Ronald “Ron” Earl Welling

   Ronald “Ron” Earl Welling, 64, of Amarillo and formerly of Matador died Saturday, November 5, 2016. Memorial service was 2pm, Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Home Coulter Road Chapel. Arrangements were by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors.

   Welling was born November 17, 1951, in Matador to Freddie and Irene Welling. He proudly served his country in the Air Force and married Paula Pallmeyer, also of Matador, on September 8, 1979, in Las Vegas.

   Ron was a traffic supervisor for Jack Cooper Transportation for 22 years and was a member of the VFW. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers fan. Ron loved family vacations and get-togethers, laughter, woodworking and tinkering in the barn. He was the life of the party, wherever the party was held. A legacy for all of us to remember; he shall be truly missed by all his family and friends.

   Survivors include his wife, Paula; a son, Scott Welling and wife Jamie of Amarillo; a stepdaughter, Susan Mullin and spouse Lisa of Amarillo; a grandson, Cohen Welling of Amarillo; three brothers, Jim Welling of Midlothian, Frank Welling and wife Renee of Amarillo and Gary Welling and spouse Tom Edmunds of Overland Park, Kan.; and a sister, Peggy James and husband Wayne of Arlington.

   Ron is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Stanley Welling.

   In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to VFW Post 1475, or 100 Club of the Texas Panhandle.
