Herbert Norman Seigler
Herbert Norman Seigler, 84, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2017, at a Kerrville hospice facility.
He was born April 9, 1932, at Matador, Texas. He was the son of Herbert Eldred Seigler and Fannie Elizabeth Rattan Seigler. He graduated from Matador High School in the class of 1949. He then attended Tarleton College in Stephenville, Texas, and graduated from Texas Tech University in Lubbock. He served in the U. S. Army and attained the rank of 1st Lieutenant.
After his military service, he was employed by National Supply Company, a manufacturer and distributor of oilfield production equipment and supplies. He managed stores in Graham, Wichita Falls, and Odessa. He later worked in several management positions, including overseas sales manager. He lived in California for a number of years and later in Houston. He retired in 1986 as vice-president of Marketing for Armco Steel.
He then moved to Kerrville, Texas, where he became active in the Buck and Bull Gun Club and served as its president. He was also active in the Western Museum of Art in Kerrville, where several items from his early days on his family’s ranch near Matador are on permanent display.
He married the former Mary Jane Huey on January 28, 1954 at Matador, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jane; his two sons, Max, and wife Sandra, of Austin, Mark, and wife Kim of Riverside, California, his grandchildren, Nicholas, Clara, Graham, Emmy, and Morgan, and brother, Pat Seigler, of Matador.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, two sisters, Frances Folmar, and Linda Smith, and a brother, Don Seigler.
A Celebration of Life service and visitation was held Friday, January 27 at Kerrville Funeral Home in Kerrville, Texas.
