WTAMU President to Visit Silverton High School

WTAMU President to Visit Silverton High School

CANYON, Texas—West Texas A&M University and President Dr. Walter V. Wendler are embarking on a new outreach initiative to spread a message about higher education and community partnerships in the Texas Panhandle. The hope is that this initiative will bridge the gap between the high school students of the Texas Panhandle and their journey to higher education.

Wendler will stop in Silverton Thursday, March 9 for a 10:30 a.m. presentation at Silverton High School.

“No matter if there are 800 students or five, I plan to visit each high school in the Texas Panhandle and encourage students and parents to consider the importance of higher education and community partnership,” Wendler said.

This outreach initiative has been a top priority for both the president and his staff since he began at WTAMU in September 2016. For Wendler, reaching out to the communities of the Texas Panhandle will not only provide future success for higher education but also will provide future successes for the youth and communities of the Texas Panhandle.
