James Russell “Russ” Henzler

 

   Funeral Mass for James Russell “Russ” Henzler, 53, of Matador, will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Matador, with Father Ruban Selvaraj officiating. Interment will follow at East Mound Cemetery in Matador under the direction of Zapata Funeral Home of Matador. A Rosary will be held at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at the funeral home. Russ passed from this life on March 26, 2017 in Lubbock.

   Russ was born on July 5, 1963 in Slaton, Texas to Leo Andrew Henzler and Anita Carolyn Feagin. He attended schools in Slaton and Post and graduated from Slaton High School in 1981. He married Andrea Lopez on January 19, 1985. From this union they had two children: Matthew and Marc.

   Russ loved working in the oil fields, camping, fishing, music, hanging out on the back patio, and working in his work shop on different wood projects. He loved spending time with his family, especially his sons and grandsons.

   Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 32 years, Andrea Lopez Henzler, his sons; Matthew Henzler and wife Alex of Bangs, Texas, and Marc Henzler of Matador, his parents; Leo and Linda K. Henzler and Curtis and Anita Bevers, grandsons; Aiden, Riley, and James Dean, his brothers; David Henzler and wife Cyndee, Hunter Henzler and wife Brityn, and Bradley Smith and wife Amy, also many aunts, uncles, in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and his best buddy Jade “Skeeter” Jones.

   He is preceded in death by his grandparents; Leo and Mary Henzler and Jeter and Geraldine Feagin, brother; Bobby Henzler, nephew; Nolan Henzler, in-laws; Faustino and Vale Lopez, and his God parents; Uncle Raymond and Aunt Rose Henzler.

   Memorial donations can be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church or to East Mound Cemetery Association.
