Motley County Class of 2017 Valedictorian and Salutatorian

Thalia Mendoza ~ Valedictorian

Thalia is the daughter of Ramiro and Cristina Mendoza.

Once she’s graduated, she plans to attend West Texas A&M in Canyon, and to major in nursing so that she can become a Pediatric Nurse.

She was active in several extracurricular activities in high school. She played basketball all four years, and her team won the Bi-District Championship when she was in the 10th grade. She ran track that same year, and was a Regional qualifier. Thalia was a member of the National Honor Society in 11th and 12th grade; she was president in 12th. She was Class President for four years, and won the Class Citizenship Award for four years as well.

In ten years, she sees herself happily married with four kids, living on a ranch in the outskirts of Canyon, with a successful career.

There are several things that she will miss about high school, including her friends that she’ll be leaving behind, and her elementary kids. She’ll also miss being home with Lucy.

If she were to suddenly have five million dollars to spend, she would pay for her college, and her little sister’s college later on. She would also use it to travel the world and live the good life. She would also buy a house and pay off her truck.

Chloe Gleghorn ~ Salutatorian

Chloe is the daughter of Tommy and Kim Gleghorn.

After high school, she plans on attending Sul Ross State University in Alpine, and earn a degree in Animal Science.

Throughout her high school years, Chloe was active in FFA, played basketball, ran cross country, and played golf. She was a member of NHS and was the student council president. She also participated in UIL.

In ten years, she sees herself graduated from college and maybe working on a doctorate degree in Animal Science, and being successful in everything she chooses to do.

She’s going to miss the teachers at school, and the elementary school kids she helps.

If she had five million dollars, she would give some to her family and the rest she would put away and save for when she finds a worthy cause to donate to.
