Silverton Class of 2017 Valedictorian and Salutatorian

Shayna Smith ~ Valedictorian

Shayna is the daughter of Lee and Krista Smith.

She plans to attend Texas Tech University and major in Animal Science.

High school was busy for Shayna, she was involved in cheerleading, FFA, FCCLA, One Act Play, National Honor Society, 4-H, Silverton Youth Board, Silverton UMC, Stock Horse of Texas, Plainview Daily Herald Tomorrow’s Leader Award, SHS Miss Flame 2016, Most Outstanding Student 2016.

In ten years, she sees herself graduated from college and working a great job, and starting a family.

She will miss seeing her classmates and the teachers that helped her throughout her high school years.

What would she do with five million dollars? “WWDD? What would Dave do? I’d have to ask Dave Ramsey first, but I’m pretty sure he would tell me to invest.”

Blaine Patton ~ Salutatorian

Blaine is the son of James and Kari Patton.

Once he graduates, Blaine plans to attend Oklahoma State University and pursue a degree in Entomology.

During his high school years, he was a part of the Silverton United Methodist Church and Rock Salt Youth Group. He was a member of 4-H and FFA. For three years, he served as the class president in student council, and was a member of the National Honor Society. Blaine also participated in football, basketball, track, and golf. He was named in Who’s Who.

In ten years’ time, he sees himself having a stable job, a family, and a successful adult.

What he’ll miss most about high school is the friends he has made, and playing football on Friday nights.

Blaine would invest half his money if he were given five million dollars, then use the rest to help his family and start saving.
