Rickie Lynn Rivers
Rickie Lynn Rivers, age 60, died at his home southwest of Quitaque, Texas on April 28, 2017 and was laid to rest on May 3 at Rest Haven Cemetery near Quitaque. He was born to Jesse C. Rivers and Patricia J. Barefield Rivers on July 20, 1956 in Matador, Texas.
Rick attended Caprock High School in Amarillo. There he studied in the building trades program learning several trades such as: carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and brick laying. He later became a licensed electrician as well as being proficient in small engine repair. He used these skills all of his life as he made a living. He loved shooting pool and riding trail bikes.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, his maternal grandparents James and Iva Barefield and his paternal grandparents Richard and Letha Rivers. He is survived by his daughter, Amanda Myers, her husband Nathan and son Kade of Fort Worth, Texas. Also surviving is a brother Chuck Rivers of Amarillo, Texas, two nephews and several aunts and uncles.
Rick will be greatly missed by his family and friends, who describe him as “the most talented individual I have ever known,” and “generous to a fault.”
