Francis Hobbs

   Frances Louise Jones Hobbs passed away Friday, August 11, 2017; she was 73 years young.

   Frances was born December 1, 1943 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to E. L. “Bud” Jones and wife, Lula Belle Thomas Jones.  She grew up on Route 66 near Conway, Texas and graduated from Panhandle High School in l962.  Frances attended beauty school in Plainview, Texas, and it was during this time that she met Roy Hobbs of Matador, Texas.  They married on her 20th birthday, December 1, 1963. 

   Frances faithfully served her community as a hairdresser in Matador, Texas, where she resided. Her home was always a place of welcome and hospitality for all who came and left.

   Frances was preceded in death by her father-in-law, George Clinton Hobbs; her mother-in-law, Ruby McCleary Hobbs both of Matador; her parents, E.L. “Bud” Jones and Lula Belle Thomas Jones both of Panhandle, Texas; and her one and only sister, Janet Elizabeth Jones Moore of Panhandle.

   She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Roy George Hobbs of Matador; her eldest daughter Holly Hobbs Watson and husband, Darren Watson of Lubbock, Texas; granddaughter Meagan Lee Jones and husband, Jordan Jones of Dallas; and grandson, Corbin Lee of San Marcos, Texas.   She is also survived by her youngest daughter, Heather Hobbs Haile of Stephenville, Texas, and grandsons, Holden, Hudson, and Halston Haile all of Stephenville.   She is also survived by countless family and friends.

   A visitation was held from 6-8 p.m., Sunday, August 13 at­­­­ Zapata Funeral Home in Matador Texas.

   A funeral was held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 14, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Matador to celebrate her life.    Dr. Stacy Connor of Muleshoe officiating.  Interment followed at East Mound Cemetery in Matador.

   In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Senior Citizens Center in Matador, a place she founded and loved dearly, or the Joe Arrington Cancer Center in Lubbock, a place where she found encouragement, and gave laughter, and love to everyone there.

   A tribute to Frances’s life can be made where you may leave memories and expressions of love and sympathy for her family.
