Motley County Friends of the Library to host
Annual Beans and Cornbread lunch
Local Guitarist to be featured Guest
The Motley County Friends of the Library will host their Annual Rootin’ Tootin’ Beans and Cornbread lunch Friday, August 25, 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. in the library annex. Beans and Cornbread, Smoked Sausage, Cobbler, and all the fixins’ will be served. Donations will be accepted with great appreciation!
Local guitarist Roger Martin, will be the featured guest. Mr. Martin was a hit at last year’s event and was kind enough to agree to lend his talent again this year!
Mr. Martin started playing guitar when he was 12 years old, but didn’t play for many years. “When I turned 50 I decided to get serious about music,” Mr. Martin said. He and Pam started a sing-and-play in their home, which later turned into a band, The Dirt Storm Drifters. He started writing songs again and spent two years recording their first CD, After the Eclipse. The band plays mostly folk music with a little rock, blues and country.
This annual event, which coincides with the Old Settlers Reunion each year, is a major fundraiser for the library.
