Carlene Joan (Lynn) Colwell (1934 – 2017)

   Carlene Joan (Lynn) Colwell, age 83, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Saturday November 25, 2017 at approximately 10:48 a.m., at Renaissance Park Multi Care Center, Fort Worth, Texas.

   She was born June 13, 1934 in Butler, Oklahoma, the daughter of Lonzo Lacy and Elsie Mae (Mohling) Lynn. As a young girl she attended Whiteflat school system through sixth grade and continued at Matador school system until graduating from high school in 1952. She enjoyed playing basketball while in high school.

In 1952 she married Barney Lee Colwell and they lived in Paducah, TX. They later moved to farming communities near Delwin and Finney, TX. Eventually they moved back to Paducah. They were married for 42 years.

   Along with being a homemaker, she worked as a school bus driver, telephone operator, medical transport driver, child development worker, and nanny for families. 

   She was a Christian. Her life was lived with a heart for loving God and serving others in her church, her family, her friendships, and her community. She will be greatly missed.

   She is survived by her son, Lacy Lee Colwell “who loves her dearly”, Benbrook, TX. Two brothers, Lonnie Lynn, Childress, TX and Alvin Lynn, Amarillo, TX; Four sisters, Joyce Morton, Cleveland, TX, Daphene Edwards, Matador, TX, Glenda Lynn, Dumas, TX, and Gail Noland, Gainesville, TX; One sister in law, Patricia Yvonne Diseker (Colwell), Arlington, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

   She is proceeded in death by daughter Carla Lynn Colwell and ex-husband Barney Lee Colwell; parents; Lonzo Lacy and Elsie Mae (Mohling) Lynn; and two sisters; Virginia Lee Lynn and Mary Ruth (Lynn) McCallie.

   Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church, Paducah, TX at 2pm on December 03, 2017. Visitation will be at Zapata Funeral Home, Paducah, TX from 6-8pm, Saturday, December 02, 2017. Grave side service will also be held following the church service.
