Briscoe County 4-H does well in contests

Briscoe County 4-H had about 40 kids participate in the Big Fun in District 1 4-H Contests.

To start the week off we had 4 teams from Briscoe County participate in the District 4-H Duds to Dazzle contest. There were 40 teams with a total of 155 youth at the competition. We brought home an intermediate team 1st place medal – team consisting of Brenna Francis, Aspen Miller, Kilee Lynn, and Madison Gamble.  We al had a 3rd place intermediate team medal team consisting of Emily Gamble, Sara Casner, Kaitlyn Gamble, and Vanessa Beltran.  In the junior division we had to 4th place team consisting of Maddie Francis, Makayla Perkins, Aubrey Francis, Abigail Walton, and Natalia Deleon.  5th place junior team consisted of Bentlee Gamble, Kailee Gamble, Trinity Perez, Lori Womack, and Kaylynn Davis.

The Livestock Judging contest is an extremely competitive event. The senior team consisted of Tristanne Rasco, Beverly Whitaker, Kam Salazar, and Tasha Schlueter. They received 10th place out of 19 teams. The intermediate team consisting of Kooper Cox, Sara Casner, and Brenna Francis received 9th place team out of 25 teams! Brenna was also 6th place high point and Sara was 13th high point. In the Junior division the team consisting of Makenlee Lemons, Allie Pigg, Trinity Schlueter and John Pigg received 2 place team. Cooper Mullins, Maddie Francis, Cecy’le Pigg, and Cain Narvaez received 11th place. There were a total of 16 junior teams. Makenlee was 5th high point, Allie was 9th high point, Maddie 13th high point, and Trinity was 15th high point.

We also had a Grass ID team participate in the District 4-H Grass ID contest. Team consisted of Sara Casner, Cooper Mullins, Andrew Walton, and Braylen Martinez. They were 3rd place team and Andrew was 4th high point individual!

In the District 4-H Entomology Contest our Briscoe County team received 2nd place team plaques.  The team consisted of Daniel Walton, Jordin Lynn, Kalli Cox, and Tally Patton.  Daniel Walton was Reserve High Individual! They will be advancing to the State Contest in College Station!

Tristanne Rasco received 3rd place in the District 4-H Public Speaking Contest and Beverly Whitaker received 7th place in public speaking.  Tristanne will also advance to the State Contest in College Station.
