Alden “Whitey” Morzett Whitefield
Alden “Whitey” Morzett Whitefield, age 95 of Matador, passed away, Saturday, March 23, 2019. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at East Mound Cemetery in Matador. Visitation will be held at the Matador Church of Christ, Tuesday, March 26, 2019, from 1:00-8:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Floydada.
Alden was born on December 28, 1923 in Lakeview, Texas to Johnny Price Whitefield and Estella Anderson.
Alden was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked as an Aviation Machinist’s Mate and served in the Guadalcanal and the Solomon Islands from November 16, 1942 to January 21, 1943. He met and married Dortha Helen Perryman in 1946. They had two daughters, Brenda Elaine Whitefield and Janet Marie Whitefield. He was a longtime member of the Matador Church of Christ. Alden was a godly man who was dedicated to his family and country.
Alden is survived by his daughters, Janet Whitefield of Matador and Brenda McNair of Sherman, Texas; brothers, Stanley Whitefield of Idalou and Jim Whitefield of Spur, Texas; six grandchildren, Mike Parks, Ragina Pollard, Chris Paul, Ryan McNair, Molly McNair and Amanda Nelson; 13 great grandchildren, Caitlynn and Maci Parks; Katharine, Scarlett and Parker Nelson; Cambry and Morgan Paul; Wesley, Lorien and Christian McNair; Tallon, Tadley and Tansy Pollard; and one great-great grandchild, Evelynn Meade.
