Harvey D. McJimsey
Harvey D. McJimsey, 81 of Silverton, passed away peacefully after a brief battle with cancer, on September 30, 2019 at the BSA Hospice. A Memorial Service was held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 5, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Silverton. Arrangements were under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home.
Harvey was born on December 19, 1937, along with his twin sister, Helen in Tulia, Texas. Harvey went to school in Silverton through his Junior year then due to his father’s death, Harvey decided to take it upon himself to provide for his mother and put Helen through high school and college. Harvey married Patricia Lawrence on August 1, 1959. Harvey worked for the Highway Dept. and then owned his business, Mac’s Backhoe Service. When he retired, he was driving a road grader for Briscoe County. He did multiple side jobs, climbing antennas to repair them, farming and the most favorite of all was being a cowboy. He was also a volunteer firefighter for several years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Albert and Stella Mae; infant brother, Monroe Franklin and half sister, Elbie Mize and half brother, Irving McJimsey.
Harvey is survived by his twin sister, Helen; his wife, Patricia; his son, Doug and wife, Carrie Ann McJimsey; his daughter, Vicki and husband, Billie Perry; his grandchildren, Nathan Perry, Chad Perry and Heather, Aubri Wilson and Sam, Mesa & McKena McJimsey. He has 3 great-grandsons. He will be missed by many other relatives, friends and babies they have kept and helped raise.
