All eyes in the Texas six-man world will be focused on a town 62 miles south of Matador Friday night.

When the state runner-up Motley County Matadors travel to take on the perennially playoff-bound Jayton Jaybirds, it will be something for six-man fans to behold.

In looking ahead to the district showdown, Motley County Head Coach Mike Bigham said, “They are a very good team and are well coached,” said Motley County Head Coach Mike Bigham.

Last week the Matadors picked up a win from a forfeit due to injuries by Southland.

Jayton defeated Patton Springs 52–7 for a district win. The Matadors previously prevailed over Patton 48–0.

Motley and Jayton are both ranked in the Top 10 in the state in D2 standings. The Matadors have ranked as high as number one in some pundits’ polls. Jayton has ranked as high as number five.

The Matadors are on a seven-game winning streak, and the Jaybirds have won their last six. Each team has one loss. Overall Jayton is 9–1 and Motley County is 7–1.

Game time is 7:30 p.m. Friday. The Texas 1A Fan Radio Network will be broadcasting the game.
