Start your new year off on the right foot…whichever you prefer.
Spending time outdoors is good for your mind, body and spirit. Take a hike on the first day of the new year and take the “Caprock Experience.” Here’s how you can participate:
Print off the First Day Hike Guide at https://tpwd.texas.gov/state…/caprock-canyons/fdh-guide/
Take a selfie along the trail and tag the park on Facebook or Instagram. Be sure and share what you learned from nature in your “Caprock Experience” by using the #firstdayhike and #Caprockexperience tags.
Be sure to post it by the end of the day on January 1, 2021.
As an added challenge, participate in the Red River Parks’ First Day Hike Challenge. Caprock Canyons State Park is a participating park in the challenge so don’t miss it!
- The Red River Park’s Challenge is a collaboration between Palo Duro, us, Copper Breaks, and Eisenhower State Parks. We wanted to promote tourism throughout our region, showcase our shared resources, and then have visitors experience each of our unique resources. We just started that this year. (Not sure if it’s going to be a recurring event or not) As far as we know, no other parks are doing anything similar. The determination of our Wildcard park (Eisenhower) came about by the fact that we are all parks located along the Red River. So, this year, participants can experience a natural resource that has significant influence on the landscape and cultural history of each of our areas.
- A few of our parks that are participating in the Red River Parks’ Challenge are also offering their own individual First Day Hikes with each one offering something different than the other. For Caprock, it is strictly a self-guided event.
