We took a 12-hour flight from Miami to Tel Aviv, a modern city founded in 1909. Tel Aviv roughly translates to ancient spring. It is a growing metropolis (population approaching 500,000) with giant cranes used in constructing high-rise apartment buildings, where most people live.
