My dad, Benjamin P. Jordan, was a section foreman on the Missouri Pacific Railroad during World War II. He tried to enlst, but he was told his job was more important and essential to the war. We lived in Louisiana, near three army training bases and one air force base. Most everything was shipped by rail, thus the essential nature of his job.
