On ballots where many Texas state and local offices this year will essentially be determined at the
primary level, voter turnout was robust throughout precincts in this newspaper’s coverage area. Two
county judge’s seats are among the most important to voters on a local level.
In unofficial returns provided Tuesday night by the Briscoe County Clerk’s office, Rank Cogdell has
emerged at the top of a three-way race in the Republican primary for county judge, to succeed retiring
judge Wayne Nance. Cogdell garnered 261 votes to Dan Meyer’s 132 and Eddie Rhoderick’s 66
Also in Briscoe County, Jared Johnson with 98 votes has won the Justice of the Peace, Precinct 2
race versus Paul Teegardin, with 32.
All other Briscoe county offices on the ballot all have only one candidate.
In unofficial returns provided Tuesday night by Cottle County Clerk Vickey Wederski, incumbent
county judge Karl Holloway, with 269 votes, has fended off challenger Greg Worley, with 45, in the
Republican primary.
In Motley and King counties all incumbents ran unopposed.
