As a child I lived with my family in the Imperial Valley of Southern California. The area is some 200 feet below sea level. While it’s hot in the summer, it can get cold in the winter.
We had a model T touring car that once had a canvas top, but by the late 1920s, that top was long gone.
When we drove anywhere in the winter, we were cold.
