YOUNGEST HUNTER The winner of the 2022–23 Star Feed and Seed Big Buck Contest, Youngest Hunter, is Kolt McKee, who has won a monogrammed jacket. 12-year old Kolt shot his buck late December 2022 in Dickens County. McKee's 7-point deer had an inside spread of 15.25 inches, with the left main beam measuring 18.25 inches and the right main beam measuring 18.75.The total score was 100.0. | COURTESY PHOTO
YOUTH CATEGORY The winner of the Star Feed and Seed Big Buck Contest Youth Category for 2022–23 is Cody Simmons, who has won a monogrammed jacket. Simmons, a 16-year old resident of Bedford, Texas, harvested his buck early December 2022. Simmons’ 10-point buck had an inside spread of 18.0 inches. The left side main beam was 24.25 inches and the right side main beam was 23.5 inches, for a total score of 137.50 inches. | COURTESY PHOTO
STRAIGHTEIGHTWINNER Star Feed and Seed's 2022–23 Big Buck Contest Straight Eight Division winner is Landon Hinson. Hinson, a Spur resident, shot his buck late December in Dickens County. The 8-point buck had a left side main beam of 20.375 inches and a right side main beam of 20.375 inches.The side spread was 17.25 inches, with an overall score of 110.25 inches. WHIETAILANDBOWHUNTER The winner of Star Feed and Seed’s 2022–23 Big Buck Contest, OverallWhitetail Deer category as well as the bow division is Korey Kothmann. A Lubbock resident, he harvested his buck early December in King County,Texas.The buck had a left side main beam of 21.375 inches and a right side main beam of 21.875 inches. For the past nine weeks, hunters in Cottle, Crosby, Dickens, Floyd, Garza, Kent, King, Motley and Stonewall Counties have tried their luck at winning the 23rd Annual Star Feed and Seed Big Buck Contest.
