The Paducah Dragons quickly jumped to a lead versus the number-20-in-the-state Groom Tigers, and with 2:08 left in the game, the Dragons led 33–19.
Then Groom showed how they earned their state ranking. They powered back with two quick touchdowns to regain the lead 34–33.
Paducah had one last shot to score with 49 seconds left, but Groom held firm, and pulled out the narrow victory.
