QUAIL SEASON ENDS Matador Wildlife Management Area (Texas Parks and Wildlife) wrapped up its quail season last week, with numbers better than in several years. The area had 421 hunter check-ins, with hunters spending 792 days in the field and harvesting 835 quail. Even at the end of the season many hunters were bumping several coveys a day, with some coveys having 15+ birds.The organization said that they should have good carryover into the breeding season. | COURTESY PHOTO
