Michael Shane Meredith, 45, passed from this life on Monday, January 20, 2025, at his home after a sudden illness. Michael was born September 30, 1979, in Childress, Texas, to Bennie Wayne and Connie (Robinson) Meredith.
He grew up mostly in Roaring Springs and attended Motley County schools. As a young boy he was an adventurer and enjoyed spending time with his cousins, brothers and friends. The group of boys took many adventure walks, sometimes for miles down the riverbed, where they hunted for forgotten treasures and sometimes brought home special rocks or a piece of metal that had long been covered in sand.
Michael had worked in landscaping. He was an avid reader. He enjoyed researching about healthcare and vitamins. As a young man Michael helped care for his disabled younger brother. He had a caregiver’s heart and had helped care for his mother when she became very ill and until her death. For the last several years, he had cared for his dad, who also suffers with health problems.
Michael was preceded in death by his mother; his maternal grandparents, Claude and Iona Marzelle Robinson; and his fraternal grandparents, Luster and Agnes Meredith.
He is survived by two brothers, Steven of Fort Worth and Mark of Lubbock; and a sister, Kayla Meredith of Matador.
The family is planning a memorial service.
