Raymond George McJimsey passed serenely in his sleep on Thursday, July 31, 2025, having lived a full 93 years and 363 days. His birthday celebration will now take place in heaven, a joyous occasion for those who have preceded him.
He was born in Silverton, Texas, on August 2, 1931, the youngest child of Luther and Maud McJimsey. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Arthur, Robert and Annabelle.
He survived polio as a child and lived a very active life in spite of the effects of polio. He farmed in Briscoe County before marrying the love of his life, Lajuana Parrish, on March 15, 1952. They were married a joy-filled 73 years.
His memory will live on in the hearts of his son, Nick, and his wife, Daniela; his daughter, Tandy Stiner, and her husband, Robert; three grandsons, Carson and Michael McJimsey and Nick Eakes and his wife, Alex; and one granddaughter, Britney Clark and her husband, Casey. One great-grandson, Jaden Contreras, is blessed to have such a great-grandfather. There are many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors who will long remember this remarkable man.
He was a devoted husband, a loving father and a beloved grandfather, leaving behind cherished memories for his family.
Raymond served as a deacon in the First Baptist Church of Silverton. He was a good Bible teacher to young boys. In addition to farming in Briscoe County, Raymond was general manager of the Briscoe County Coop in Silverton andtheWindhamCoopinLamesa.HeandLajuanaretired to Lake MacKenzie, where Raymond made friends with many neighbors who were beneficiaries of his generous service. He also served as a volunteer fire fighter at the lake.
One of the most generous gifts an individual can make is to donate one’s body for health-related education and research. As a last generous act, Raymond made this generous gift. He is preceded in death by his parents, his siblings and one son, Todd.
The family had a small cake and coffee celebration on Raymond’s birthday and appreciate all of your thoughts and prayers.
