Lubbock’s new TxDOT engineer credits her Floydada math teachers with successful path

Encourages other small-town students—and girls—to pursue STEM studies

When Kylan Sanders Francis graduated and entered the engineering program at Texas Tech, she was one of four females in the entire department, one of two in her classes. She said that while at times the experience was isolating, she learned a lot about just being comfortable in a predominantly male field.
