Ronald Lynn Mullin, 78, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026, just five days before his 79th birthday. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026, at the Church of Christ in Turkey. Arrangements are under the personal care of the Moore-Rose Funeral Home.
Ronald was born on August 27, 1947, in Memphis, Texas, the only child of I.D. and Fern Mullin. He grew up in the Estelline area and graduated from Estelline High School in 1965. He continued his education at Texas Tech University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree.
On July 27, 1968, Ronald married the love of his life, Ginger Martin. Together, Ronald and Ginger shared 58 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered around love, family, faith, hard work, and countless memories. Ronald and Ginger were blessed with two children, Derek Mullin of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and Shadi and Bryan Buchanan of Turkey. Ronald loved his children deeply and was immensely proud of them. He especially enjoyed fishing with Derek, arrowhead hunting and sharing quiet time together. They made lots of memories that both of them treasured.
Shadi was his beloved baby girl, and he held a special tenderness for her throughout her life. He was so proud of her. Ronald also loved Bryan as his own son, welcoming him fully into the family and cherishing the bond they shared. Ronald was especially grateful to have Bryan helping alongside him on the farm and loved having his family close by in Turkey, where they could share in the everyday moments of life together.
His two grandchildren, Kameron and Macee Buchanan of Weatherford, Texas, and Kennadee and Bryant Taylor of Turkey, were truly the light of his life. He was their EVERYTIME for them! His three beautiful great-grandchildren, Everlee and Enzlee Taylor and Beau Buchanan, held an especially tender place in his heart. Nothing brought Ronald greater joy than his family, and he was immensely proud of each of them.
Family extended far beyond his immediate household. Jerry and Brenda Smith of Turkey, Texas, and their family held a special place in Ronald’s life. Their sons, Brandon (Amy) of Turkey and Jason (Amanda) of Lubbock, were like sons to Ronald, and Braydon, Jayton, Mason, and Brooklyn he loved like grandchildren.
Ronald began farming in 1970, dedicating more than five decades of his life to the land. Farming was more than an occupation to Ronald—it was a way of life. He was known as a hard worker who believed in doing things right, taking care of his responsibilities, and providing for the family he loved so deeply. For the past 19 years, Jaime Chavez worked alongside Ronald as a farm hand and trusted friend. Ronald loved Jaime and his family and considered him part of the farm family.
His dedication extended far beyond his own farm. Ronald had served on the Lighthouse Electric Cooperative board since 1988 and also gave his time and leadership to the Valley School, Turkey Farmers Co-op, and Valley Peanut Growers boards of directors. He cared deeply about his community and believed in doing his part to make it a better place. Ronald was a faithful, lifetime member of the Turkey Church of Christ, where his faith was a guiding part of his life. He dearly loved his church family and treasured the fellowship, friendships and time they shared together.
Anyone who knew Ronald knew that he also knew how to enjoy life. He loved spending time fishing at his tank, arrowhead hunting, target shooting, and collecting guns. He enjoyed reloading ammunition for family and friends and even took up the art of flint knapping. He also loved listening to music and going to casinos with Ginger and family. Ronald could turn almost anything into a project. He enjoyed creating things from antlers, including jalapeño popper seeders, rings and key rings that he shared with family and friends. And when the family needed a little extra entertainment, Ronald was always ready to make things interesting—sometimes with a little Tannerite and a very big boom.
He was also one of Valley School’s biggest fans. Ronald loved Valley and faithfully supported Valley Patriot athletics, taking great pride in the students and athletes who represented his community. Perhaps what people will remember most about Ronald, however, was not what he did, but how he made people feel. Ronald had a quick wit and a warm smile, and was always ready with a joke to lighten the mood. He had a special gift for making people feel welcome and valued. His kindness, generosity, humor and willingness to help others touched countless lives. He loved his family fiercely, valued his friendships, and left an impression on nearly everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, I.D. and Fern Mullin. Ronald leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured simply in years. It can be seen in the land he worked, the organizations and community he served, the Valley Patriots he proudly supported, the laughter he brought into a room, and most of all, in the family and friends he loved beyond measure. His family will forever remember his smile, his humor, his strength, his generosity, and the countless memories made during a life well lived.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Palliative Care Team at Covenant Hospital in Lubbock, Texas, for the kindness, dignity and compassionate care they provided Ronald and his family during his final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Valley Patriot Athletic Scholarship Fund at Valley School, honoring Ronald’s lifelong love and support of Valley students and athletics.
