A life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and adventure, came to a close with the passing of Dennis Letkeman, 81, with his wife by his side at Georgian Bay Hospital in Midland, Ontario, Canada, March 12, 2024.
Dennis will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 56 years, Donalda (nee Robertson); his children, Patti (Ron), Margaret (Robert), Barb (Glenn) and Donald (Bernice); and the apple of his eye, Deni. Dennis had 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Throughout his life, Dennis was dedicated to his work in the air conditioning and refrigeration trade, serving for over 30 years. He was a hardworking and skilled craftsman who took great pride in his profession.
Beyond his professional life, Dennis was deeply committed to his fraternal organizations, including the Scottish Rite, the York Rite, Knights Templar, Eastern Star, Shrine Vintage Car Unit and Masonry. He was an active and respected member of these groups for many years, and his contributions will be deeply missed.
A man of many passions, Dennis enjoyed hunting ducks and geese, snowmobiling with his kids, and brewing homemade beer, which he generously shared with his family and friends. Dennis and Donalda spent many winters at their snowbird home in Matador, Texas. Above all he cherished time and attention with his children and grandchildren.
Dennis had a laugh like no other; it was contagious, and you always knew where he was in a room. His ability to strike up a conversation with anyone was a gift. His parting words, “Keep Smiling,” will be remembered by all who knew him.
In addition to his immediate family, Dennis is survived by his sisters Leona (Peter) Bartel, Grace (Clifford) Dempster and Gloria Fuller, as well as many nieces and nephews. Dennis was predeceased by his parents, John and Margaretha (Braun) Letkeman, his brothers Curtis and Ronald (Carol) Letkeman, his sisters Esther (Richard) Kroeker, Alice (Alex) Tymkiw and Eva (Ernie) Kehler, and his grandchildren Cory Letkeman and Dylan Friesen.
