Dorothy “Dot” Jones was born on August 31, 1937, in Matador Texas, to George and Violet McMahan. After high school she moved to Plainview, Texas, where she met and then married Ken Jones on January 1, 1957.

Dorothy was a homemaker and very involved in the PTA, and all the school, church and sports activities of her children. She and Ken attended 9th and Columbia Church of Christ, where she served the Lord in many ways. As a farmer’s wife, Dorothy had the opportunity to perfect her cooking and baking to her family’s delight . In time, Ken and Dorothy purchased a cabin in New Mexico where many friendships and memories were made.Theyalsoownedand operated Plainview Battery for several years.

Dorothy was known for her love of people and knowinghowtomakethem feel special. She never met a stranger and she touched the lives of everyone she met. In 2003, Dorothy and Ken moved to Matador, Texas, where she continued to love and serve others. They attended Matador Church of Christ during their years in Matador, where many wonderful friendships were made. Ken passed in 2015, and Dorothy made the move to Burkburnett, Texas, in 2019 to live near her daughter. On Thursday, November 6, 2025, Dorothy passed from this Earth.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ken; a brother, Roy McMahan; and a beloved brother-in-law, Kuehn Faulker.

She is survived by her three childre n : son Rick Jones and wife, Tami, of Lubbock, Texas, son Tim Jones and wife, Patti, of Edmond, Okla., and daughter Cristi Blackwell and husband, Duward, of Burkburnett, Texas; five beloved grandchildren, Traci Schmidt and husband, Jay, of La Grange, Texas, Hayley Bigham and husband, Caleb, of Tulsa, Okla., Austin Wofford and wife, Morgan, of Lubbock Texas, Ian Blackwell of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Tanner Jones and wife, Kenady, of Edmond, Okla.; eight great-grandchildren, Oliver, Eleanor and Danielle SchmidtofLaGrangeTexas, Eli and Riley Bigham of Tulsa, Okla., Hagan and Hallie Jones of Edmond, Okla., and Lyla Craddick and Nellie Wofford of Lubbock Texas; two sisters, Wanda Faulkner of Matador, Texas, and Sherry Scott and husband, David, of Dumas, Texas; a sister-inlaw, Gloria McMahan, of Dumas, Texas; and many nieces, nephews and other family members that she loved very much.

The family would like to thank the staff at Brookdale Midwestern Assisted Living and Hospice of Wichita Falls, for the outstanding love, care, and support they provided for our precious mother, Dorothy.

Graveside committal will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 6, 2025 at the East Mound Cemetery in Matador, Texas, followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 noon. at the Matador Church of Christ. Arrangements under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Burkburnett, Texas.
