OBITUARIES
TULIA— Gaye McClendon, 83, went to be with our Lord on Friday, August 19, 2022. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. Pastor Rusty officiating with burial following at Rose Hill Cemetery. Funeral services are under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A visitation was held on Monday, August 22, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Gaye was born on April 15, 1939, in Turkey, Texas, to Willard and Delta (Holland) Crump. She graduated from Lubbock High School in 1957. After graduating from Lubbock, she moved to Alamogordo, New Mexico, and started her family. In 1971 she moved to Tulia and married the love of her life, Jimmy McClendon, in 1973. They moved to Hart as Jimmy farmed around the area, and their family was complete when her youngest son Jeff was born.
Gaye and Jimmy accomplished so many challenges in life, knowing the true meaning of entrepreneurship. They owned and operated KTUE radio station. They owned and operated the Drive-In theater and Royal Theater in town and owned a furniture store called Furniture Etc. for several years.
Gaye took over El Camino Dining Room after her mother passed away in 1988. Her hobbies include shopping for antique furniture and clothes. She loved her children and family unconditionally and she was known as a generous, sweet, precious, loving person by the community.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Delta Crump.
She is survived by her husband, Jimmy McClendon of Tulia; her children, Donnie Randall of Tulia, Rickie Randall of Tulia, Tiffany Randall of Tulia and Jeff McClendon of Amarillo; her stepchildren, Lisa Lair of North Richland Hills, Leslie Murray of Fort Worth and Kevin McClendon of Dallas; eleven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
