Newberry, 1948–2023

age 74, went to be with the Lord on April 29, 2023 in Lubbock, Texas. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, May 13, at the Church of Christ in Matador, Texas.

Imagene was born on July 3, 1948 in Sudan, Texas. She married Kenneth in 1964 in Texas and started their family in 1966 in Houma, Louisiana. They moved in the 1970s to Amarillo, where she worked at a beef packing plant. After moving to Matador in the

1980s she worked as a clerk in various grocery stores. In 1998, she married Jerry, and he taught her how to drive an 18-wheeler; they traveled many places in the U.S. delivering freight. In the last five years, Imagene worked in the home health care field. She was a seamstress hemming clothing for friends, and she made quilts. Imagene was a loving mother and wife, and she took great care of friends and family with terminal illnesses. She will be missed by many relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Lefevre, in 1996; her husband Jerry Newberry, in 2015; her parents, Jimmy Williams and Myrtle Lee Williams; her sisters Ruthy Stone and Ruby Williams; and her brothers Jimmy Earl Williams and Wayne Williams.

Imagene is survived by her son, Kenneth Lefevre, of Matador; four stepdaughters; two stepsons; her brother Calvin and Ginger Williams of Amarillo; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
