Leo Kuehn Faulkner, age 88 of Matador, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2021 at Matador Health and Rehab Center in Matador. Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 29, 2021 at East Mound Cemetery in Matador. Officiating were Brother Eddy Helms of First Baptist Church in Matador. Pallbearers were grandsons Matthew Tresser, Gabriel Tresser, Chris Stone, Sam Stone, Austin Stone and Caleb Wager. Arrangements are under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Floydada.
Kuehn was born on June 16, 1933 in Turkey, Texas, to James Edward Faulkner and Ida Young Faulkner. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, beginning his 30-year commitment to our country’s freedom. Kuehn was a submarine sailor who loved serving and fulfilling the Navy’s core values of honor, courage and commitment. While in the Navy, he met lifelong friends who became family.
He was a loving husband, a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, a man of faith and an amazing friend. He loved his family wholeheartedly and put their needs before his.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Edward; his mother, Ida Young; his brothers, James Edward and John Morgan; and his sisters, Evelyn Whittington and Ida Farley.
Kuehn is survived by his wife of 68 years, Wanda; his two daughters, Ronda (Randy) Wager and Lisa (Gary) Stone; one son, Brian Kuehn Faulkner; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He may be gone from our presence, but will remain forever in our hearts. What rejoicing there will be when we are all reunited in heaven one day.
