Her family moved to Quitaque in search of work in 1954, and this is where she met the love of her life, Jimmy Martinez. They were married on September 5,1968, in Tulia, Texas, and were married for 54 years. Together they built a home that welcomed four children. Maggie blessed so many people with her faith and kindness. She was always there for her children, family and friends. She instilled in her children a love for Christ and good work ethics. Maggie had a sweet, beautiful smile and a contagious laugh that brought joy to many. She had a servant’s heart and was always giving her time to others. She spent her life caring for numerous family members and friends throughout her life.

Maggie was an amazing cook. She loved making others happy by sharing her meals. She helped her daughter fulfill her dream of starting her own café and boutique. Maggie enjoyed working with her Bison Café family. She enjoyed getting to meet and visit with guests from all over the world and spreading the word of God to those she encountered.

Maggie had a victorious fight with breast cancer in 2000. A new battle continued when she was diagnosed with liver cancer this past year. Her will to live, her unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends and many supporters carried her through months of chemotherapy and radiation. She showed unbelievable resilience and perseverance. Maggie was a warrior until the very end.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” —2 Timothy 4:7-8.
