1952– 2022
SILVERTON—Patti Lu Tidwell Bufkin was born in Silverton, Texas, on September 16, 1952, to Carl Lucius Tidwell and Patsy Ann Baird, and passed away October 5th, 2022, at the age of 70 in Roanoke, Texas.
Patti grew up in Silverton, where she graduated from Silverton High School in May of 1971. She married Tommy Joe Bufkin August 16, 1974. They later had three daughters, Kathy, Amanda and Jessica.
Patti was well known within the family as being a very loving and caring soul. She would do anything for anyone. Patti’s passing has left a large, empty space in her family and friends’ hearts. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Patti loved animals from a young age. She enjoyed being at the ranch of her grandparents, W.C. “Snooks” and Lucille Baird, while growing up. Her favorite pastimes then were running barrel horses, cutting, roping and riding horses. It was said she could rope as well as any man around. Later, she enjoyed crafting and researching family history. She worked with local programs to rescue and TNR community cats.
Patti was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her pets. Patti was known for her smile, laughter, sense of humor and caring nature.
Patti is preceded in death by her father, Carl Lucius Tidwell, and mother, Patsy Ann Baird.
Patti is survived by her husband of 48 years, Tommy Joe Bufkin; daughters Kathy Rainwater and husband, Chad, Amanda Sass and husband, David, and Jessica Bufkin; grandsons, Jonathan Rainwater, Justin Rainwater, and William Sass; and sister Lee Ann Holt of Tulia.
Services will be held privately at a later date.
