Ralph Hill 80, of Silverton, Texas, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Saturday, February 19, 2022.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at First Baptist Church in Silverton, Texas. Burial will follow at the Silverton Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, February 21, 2022, at the Moore-Rose visitation center in Silverton.
Ralph was born January 14, 1942, in Abilene, Texas, to Bailey and LaNelle Hill. He attended school in Silverton, Texas. In 1963 he met the love of his life, Janice Hester. They were married May 4, 1964. Ralph was drafted into the army in 1966 and served in the Vietnam War until 1968, when he was discharged.
He and Janice made their home in Silverton in 1968 and lived there ever since. Ralph worked for Briscoe Coop for many years and then was employed with Silverton ISD until his retirement in 2003. His greatest joys in life were spending time with his wife, family and friends. He loved to fish and garden and talk about his successes with both. He was a member of the Silverton First Baptist Church since 1969. He dedicated his life as a young man and had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Ralph was preceded in death by his father, Bailey Hill, and his mother, LaNelle Hill.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Janice; his son Denny (June) Hill of Justin, Texas; his sister Sylvia Hill of Plainview; granddaughters Audrey Hill of Justin, Texas, and Hailey Stafford of Krum, Texas; greatgranddaughter Brooklynn; brothers-in-law Ricky Hester (Bena) of Silverton and Ronnie (Christi) Hester of Dalhart; many nieces, nephews, greatnieces and nephews; and many other relatives.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, the Silverton volunteer ambulance, or the Silverton volunteer fire department.
