Rebecca(Becky)Weisenburger, age 69, passed away at her home in Silverton, Texas, on Tuesday, July 16, 2024. Cremation arrangements are under the personal care of MooreRose Funeral Home.
Rebecca Louise Norris Weisenburger was born February 6, 1955 in Vallejo, California. At that time, her father, Robert Edwin Norris, was a pastor and her mother, Ann Norris, was a full-time mother and homemaker. They had two other children, Mark and Debie. Soon another brother, Dave, was born. When Rebecca was 4, the family moved to San Diego. Then, when she was 13 and the family was living in Salinas, California, her parents adopted two brothers, Martin and Don.
In 1975, her first son, Seth, was born. Soon she moved with her husband, Kevin Perry, to Alaska, where her second son, Collin, was born. In 1991 she married Ted Weisenburger, who brought his daughter, Becky Luttrell, into the family.
Rebecca lived in Petersburg, Alaska, for more than 30 years. After she retired from the Alaska Marine Highway System in 2019, she and Ted moved to Silverton, Texas, to live near her parents and travel. Becky was a woman who was loved and cherished by many. She had widely diverse interest and artistic talents. She served as chef on the State of Alaska ferry line for 15 years. She served as a bartender and worked in a grocery store. She also worked at Lake San Antonio her senior year in high school. Becky’s favorite thing in life, after her family and friends, was beating her dad at Scrabble, which she could occasionally do. Becky left this earth on July 16, after a brief recurrence of cancer.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her first son, Seth.
She is survived by her son, Collin Weisenburger; five siblings; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many other family members, and many, many friends.
A Celebration of Life will take place in Petersburg, Alaska, at a date to be announced.
