Ronald Vaughan, 83, of Arlington, Texas, formerly of Silverton, Texas, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2026.
The family received friends beginning at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2026, followed by funeral services celebrating Ronald’s life at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home, 1317 Ninth St., Wichita Falls. Interment followed directly after the service at Rosemont Cemetery under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls.
Ronald was born May 10,1942 in Tulia, Texas, to Ewing and Louise (Brown) Vaughan. He grew up southwest of Silverton, Texas, on the farm with his sister, Helen. He graduated from Silverton High School in 1960. Shortly after graduation Ronald moved to Wichita Falls and began working in the parts department of the Lincoln-Mercury car dealership.
Ronald attended Downtown Baptist Church in Wichita Falls, where his cousin, Travis McMinn, was the pastor. Ronald met Annette Adams, daughter of Felton and Frances Adams, at the same church. Ronald and Annette married on July 9, 1961. They made their home in Silverton, where Ronald farmed his Grandpa Ed Vaughan’s farm and another farm nearby. He also worked various jobs from installing pipelines, working at the gas station (when gas stations were real full-service), and helping the community with remodeling and home repairs to help support his family with Annette’s help too. He brought his two young sons to the farm many times to enjoy the outdoors, and be around farm machinery and the crops.
In 1968 the family moved to Arlington, Texas. Ronald worked a couple of jobs before working for Red Rooster Lumber and Hardware in Fort Worth for nearly 40 years. Ronald enjoyed antique tractors, cars and trucks and learning all the details of the make and year. (He probably remembered every make and year growing up that everyone around Silverton owned.) He also liked woodworking and building.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Ewing and Louise Vaughan; wife, Annette Vaughan; sister, Helen Youngquist and brother-in-law, Clifford Youngquist; brother-in-law, Freddie Adams; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Felton and Frances Adams. Ronald also lost his daughter-in-law, Jolene Vaughan, who passed away just one day later.
Ronald is survived by his sons, Douglas Vaughan and Delton Vaughan; grandson, Ethan Vaughan (Nikayla); great-granddaughter, Evie Vaughan, and twins on the way; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joyce and Jerry Geisert; nieces, Larita Barkley, Glenda Nalle, Robin Sternadel and Jeri Tillman; nephews, Robert Youngquist, Gaylon Youngquist and Ryan Adams; great-nieces and nephews; great-great nieces and nephews; and special loved ones, Kili Ferrell and Kasey Ferrell (Ethan’s sisters).
