Roy Rosser, d. 2022

Body

Roy Rosser, 74, a true-grit and proud lifelong Texan, died peacefully in his home on Sunday, May 8, 2022. Born in Dallas, Texas, to Bob and Eloise Rosser, he was a proud Mesquite-O, graduating from Mesquite High School in 1966.

Roy found and married the love of his life, Melba Spray, in 1974, and together they moved their combined family to Denton County. Their quaint country wedding took place in Sunnyvale, Texas, with the couple’s four children among the wedding guests. The family spent many happy days at Jack and Rosa Spray’s cotton farm near Matador in West Texas, where Roy will be laid to rest alongside his wife, at the family plot in Whiteflat. No ceremony will be held in honor of his request, true to his humble nature.

Roy loved swinging a golf club, throwing out a fishing line, and being grillmaster at family barbecues; however, the many moonlit evenings he sat in his backyard hot tub with his wife, Melba, after the children were grown were among his fondest memories.

Roy is survived by his four children: daughter, Stephanie, twins Tony and wife Kelly, Leesa and husband Jan, and son, Michael; his granddaughter, Whitley, and her husband Brandon; his grandsons, Cody, Zain, Evan, and J.D.; his brother Randy and wife Barbara and sister Jeri and husband Jerome; as well as a beloved friend of over 50 years, Vickie and her husband, Dave; his dear friend and sister-in-law Geney; two great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends.

Roy's legacy will live on in those who loved him and he will be greatly missed.
