Wanda Ruth Calvert,
Wanda Ruth Calvert age 77, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2022 in Lubbock, Texas. Graveside services will be held at Dreamland Cemetery in Turkey, Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. Cremation arrangements are under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Floydada.
Wanda was born January 27, 1945, in Memphis, Texas, to Harry and Laverne Barnhill. Wanda was a beloved, lifelong resident of Turkey. She took great pride in her hometown and the people of the community. In addition to her family, her greatest joy was building lasting relationships with students at Valley ISD, where she worked for over 25 years. Wanda rarely met a stranger and was often referred to as a “second mom.” A phone call with Wanda seldom concluded without her touting the accolades of local residents and former students.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Cris Calvert Withers.
She is survived by her brothers, Joe Bob and Ted Barnhill; her son, Chad Calvert; her daughter-in-law, Cindy Calvert; her grandson, Cade Calvert; her son-in-law, Brent Withers; her granddaughters, Nickelynn Bright and Brooke Anthony; her great-grandsons, Jace Bright and Weston Anthony; and other beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
