TURKEY— Wayne Dee Whittington, 66, of Turkey, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2022 in Plainview, Texas, with his love Brenda Jones and his children by his side. Dee was born on February 2, 1956 to Wayne and Evelyn Whittington in Matador, Texas. Dee grew up in Quitaque and graduated from Valley High School in 1974. He attended Clarendon College and graduated from Texas Tech University. Years later he received his master’s degree from West Texas A&M University. He farmed and ranched for many years before retiring as a teacher. He loved the ranch, loved traveling, and was a big fan of live music surrounded by his friends.
Dee is preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Evelyn Whittington, and one sister, Laurine Gragson.
Dee is survived by his daughter, Magan Lambert and her husband Jared of Plainview; son Cody Whittington and wife Kenzie of Elk City, Okla.; son Matt Whittington and wife Koreley of Stratford; two sisters, Jennifer Lord and Brenda Morris; grandchildren Cherub Miller and husband Brady, Jayton Whittington, Analiese Whittington, Piper Lambert, Maverick Whittington, Leland Lambert, Maiden Whittington and Kwil Whittington; and one great-grandson, Callahan Wayne Miller.
Cremation arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
