MATADOR COUNTRY Motley County fans packed the stadium last week in Idalou for the quarterfinal playoff game versus district rival Jayton. This week in the town of Matador, a downtown Christmas event has been rescheduled from Thursday to Friday so that fans can go to the semi-finals game Thursday at 7 p.m. in Lockney. The Jayton Jaybirds fell to the Motley County Matadors in the Division 2 six-man quarterfinals Friday night in Idalou 60–8.
Having lost the district championship to Motley, Jayton knew that its hands were full against a team most media outlets have predicted to win the Division 2 state championship. The Matadors fielded a team of seniors who have paid their dues over the years to get to this point.…
