Body Cut and come again. Gardeners that sowed seeds of leafy greens suggested in the “What to Plant Now” August 6 column likely already have established plantlets. Thirty- or 40-day-old greens will soon be ready for harvesting using the “cut and come again” method.

Body Linnie Pearl grew irises and other beautiful plants. She made tiny dresses for my naked dolls and knitted booties for the ones that lost their shoes. She was so gentle, and always smelled soft — like powder. Linnie was the perfect grandmother.

Body Shed a Little LightLast week I spent almost three days in Benjamin, Texas, located at the junction of State Highway 6 and U.S. Highway 82.More than two-thirds of my existence has been living at the junction of U.S. Highway 180 and State Highway 669, so I get the small-town thing.

Body AUSTIN— With a quorum- breaking number of House Democrats still out of state (as of last week), House Speaker Dustin Burrows, R-Lubbock, gaveled the first special session to an end Friday. Gov. Greg Abbott immediately called a second special session that has already convened.
