Caprock Public Library holds fall book sale

Body The Caprock Public Library in Quitaque will hold its semi-annual book sale from Monday, August 23 through Friday, September 3. The twoweek sale will include fiction and non-fiction. Everything from mysteries to inspirational titles will be available for a suggested donation.

Body Whether it’s during the mad rush of back-to-school activities, or looking for creative, nutritious ways to feed our families, soups generally make quick work of dinner. Alphabet soup may be something you ate when you were a child. It’s nostalgic for me.

Poking fun at hair color

Body Is maroon my natural hair color? Yes. Today my silver sports a blob of vibrant maroon from all-natural pokeberry juice hair color. My friends are astounded. Young people pay me compliments. Football season approaches. Poke is ripening. Maroon is a popular school color.

Collins creates with clay in Quitaque

Body At the one caution light in Quitaque, Texas, the shell of a 1920s-era bank building surrounds the home and studio of Melinda Collins. Blue Buffalo Pottery was built inside the lot on the corner of Main Street and First, with bison figures painted on the exterior walls.

FedEx shipping now available inside Spur Dollar General store

Body Since the first of August, a new service has been added in Spur’s Dollar General store. Customers may now send and receive FedEx packages there. According to store management, there is a shelf behind the counter for both pickup and dropoff at the register.
