The Silverton Volunteer Fire Department has announced that they will be hosting the annual 4th of July Celebration on Thursday, July 4 at 6:00 p.m. in the Silverton City Park.There will be hot dogs and homemade ice cream, and everyone should bring a lawn chair.

This dish brings me back to the hot days of summer when my kids were little. My husband was overseas with the military, so I probably didn’t cook as many large meals. And with the heat that summer, I’d tell the kids we’d be having what I called “cold plates” for dinner.
