During the regular meeting of the Briscoe County Commissioners Court on Monday, Aug. 11, commissioners accepted the resignation of county treasurer Mary Jo Brannon, effective Sept. 30, 2025, with only one opposing vote. Applications were accepted until Aug. 23.

The Silverton Owls junior high and high school cross country teams traveled down the hill for the Caprock Canyon Bison Run on Tuesday, Sept. 3 on the scenic trails at Caprock Canyons State Park. Numerous teams competed, with race start at 3:00 p.m.

The Motley County Matadors defeated the Roby Lions early with a 52-6 mercy victory at home on Friday, Sept. 5.Senior Paul Johannes dominated the Matador offense, rushing for 181 yards and scoring four touchdowns.

The Motley County cross country teams traveled to Spur on Wednesday, Sept. 3, to compete in the Silver Spur Cross Country Meet. Several Matadors and Mavericks ran well and brought home hardware, including a team championship for the varsity girls, coached by Mary Jones.
