Guthrie district runner-up in UIL Academics

Body Guthrie Common School District was the UIL Academic District Runner-up to Jayton in last week’s district UIL meet in Jayton. GCSD will advance 14 students for regional competition to be held at South Plains College in Levelland on April 22.

Body The Silverton Senior Citizens had their monthly meeting Friday with a very nice crowd attending and we enjoyed a very good meal. We were glad to have Kathy May bring her portable organ, and she sang several cowboy songs.

Advisers cowed by dictators

Body It’s no wonder dictators don’t always do the right thing. They’re surrounded by yes men—plus some yes women. Nobody dares tell them they’re wrong. There I go, stereotyping dictators. Some no doubt listen to the counsel of those whose opinions differ from their own.

Soffritto: so good, and so good for you

2 dead, 1 injured in Motley Co. crash Saturday morning

Body Two men were killed and one injured in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Hwy. 62 shortly before 4:30 a.m. the morning of Saturday, March 26, according to reports from the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Motley County Sheriff’s office, which responded to the crash.

Guthrie OAP advances to area

Body The Guthrie CSD One Act Play company of “Chemical Imbalance: A Jekyll and Hyde Play” competed at UIL bidistrict last week in Post and will be advancing to area competition at Frenship on April 1. They received the following awards: Best Sound Technician: Emilio Gonzalez.
