Body Silverton got a freeze November 3rd on my late husband’s birthday. It didn’t kill all the plants as it didn’t get low enough and stay long enough, but it nipped some leaves and flowers. But maybe the freeze was enough to kill the leaves on the cotton so all of it can be gathered.

Body It’s almost time to unveil my Mr. and Mrs. Pilgrim salt and pepper shakers. This has become a ritual as I remove them from their cardboard box home where they reside in the small cabinet above the refrigerator throughout the rest of the year.

Vaccines for children become available in nearby communities

Body Since the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine was approved to prevent Covid-19 in children over the age of five years old in late October, smaller towns have waited for it to become available. In Caprock Country, clinics in Matador and Silverton have not yet had the vaccine for kids.

Holiday events set for Matador library, downtown shopping Dec. 2

Body Late Night Shopping has long been a holiday tradition in downtown Matador, and this year it’s back to Thursday night in a somewhat different format. According to Stacye Melton with the Better Than a Biscuit, local retailers will be remaining open late hours on Thursday, Dec. 2.

Body AUSTIN—Evan Young, a former clerk to the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, has been appointed to the Texas Supreme Court by Gov. Greg Abbott. He will replace Justice Eva Guzman, who resigned in June to run for Texas attorney general.
