Body Quail hunting season opens October 29, and after last year, we didn’t think it could get worse, but persistent drought and hot temperatures across the Rolling Plains prevented quail from making a comeback.

Body In a back and forth battle, the Motley County Matadors fell to district rival Jayton 59-50 Friday night in Matador. Quarterback Kadyn Roys passed for 85 yards and rushed for another 192. Running back Jason Richards added another 102 yards to the offensive output.

Body One of the fiercest rivalries in D2 six-man football will be played out Friday night in Matador at 7:30 p.m. as the Motley County Matadors host the Jayton Jaybirds. The outcome of this game is often a bellwether for which team will be playing post-season ball.
